Design Engineer Infrastructure & Temporary Works

Design Engineer – Infrastructure & Temporary Works
Central London | £30,000 – £45,000 (DOE) + Benefits
Permanent | Tier 1 Civil Engineering Contractor

I'm working with a leading tier 1 contractor delivering essential infrastructure works across the water, transport, and energy sectors. With a strong pipeline of secured projects in London and the South East, they're looking to expand their in-house design capability by appointing a Design Engineer to join their team in Blackfriars.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in structural or civil engineering design-particularly if you've worked on either temporary or permanent works-and are now looking to take on more technical responsibility within a well-established engineering team.

You'll be responsible for independently carrying out structural and civil engineering calculations for both temporary and permanent works. You'll be confident analysing structures, interpreting technical design briefs, and developing safe and efficient solutions. The role will also involve using CAD software to extract key information from drawings and draft basic engineering details, as well as supporting project teams by providing accurate technical advice. You'll ensure that design outputs meet all CDM, health & safety, and environmental standards and liaise with third parties to obtain any necessary approvals.

To be considered, you'll need to have experience producing your own design calculations and a strong understanding of BS5975 and Eurocodes 2, 3, and 5. A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is essential, as is a good working knowledge of CAD and structural analysis tools such as MathCAD. You'll also need to be confident working independently and managing your own workload, while contributing effectively within a project team. Prior experience within a contractor or consultancy delivering infrastructure schemes is highly desirable.

The role offers a salary of up to £45,000 depending on experience, along with company pension, private medical insurance, life assurance, 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays and support towards professional development and chartership. You'll be joining a business with a strong track record of progression, long-term project security, and a collaborative engineering culture.
