Cost Consultant

Our client, a leading consultancy based in Central London, is seeking an experienced MEP Cost Consultant to join their growing Cost Management team. Cost Consultant Job Overview

Manage cost planning and control for MEP packages across all project phases
Prepare detailed estimates, tender documents, and technical cost reports for MEP systems
Provide advice on value engineering and lifecycle costing
Evaluate MEP subcontractor bids and support procurement
Administer contracts, variations, and claims in line with industry standards
Support change control processes, ensuring accurate adjustments to project budgets
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams and clients
Produce regular financial and cost performance reports
Stay informed of market trends, technologies, and digital tools relevant to MEP cost consultancy

Cost Consultant Job Requirements

Proven experience in MEP cost management, ideally within a consultancy environment
Someone who has begun their APC or MRICS qualified
Strong understanding of MEP systems and technical components
Familiar with key contract forms including JCT, NEC, and FIDIC
Proficient in tools such as CostX, BCIS, and other digital estimating platforms
Experience with carbon cost planning and sustainability-driven projects (preferred)
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and contribute to team knowledge and mentoring
A proactive approach to continuous learning and professional growth

Cost Consultant Salary & Benefits

Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 (Dependent on experience)
