Mechanical Design Engineer
Our client is a leading provider of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) solutions, delivering high-quality services across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
seeking a proactive and technically proficient Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. You will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, public health, and pipework systems, across a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
Duties:
* Design mechanical building services systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and domestic water systems.
* Prepare technical drawings, schematics, calculations, and specifications in compliance with relevant standards.
* Use design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, and IES for load calculations and system modelling.
* Collaborate with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to deliver coordinated, integrated designs.
* Attend design and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
* Conduct site surveys, inspections, and support installation and commissioning activities.
* Ensure all work meets statutory requirements, health & safety standards, and industry best practices.
* Support the preparation of tender documentation, project reports, and as-built records.
* Keep up to date with developments in mechanical design, sustainability, and emerging technologies.
Requirements:
* Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design within building services, construction, or related industries.
* Good knowledge of mechanical systems design, building regulations, and relevant British Standards (CIBSE, BSRIA, etc.).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and mechanical calculation software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, Cymap).
* Understanding of energy efficiency, sustainable design, and renewable technologies.
* Experience delivering design work from concept to construction stage
