On behalf of our client, a leading provider of painting, decorating, and refurbishment services, we are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team in Newbury (Reading). Following the successful launch of their Newbury unit earlier this year, our client has secured long-term cyclical contracts and is looking to build on this success by adding a Quantity Surveyor to their team.

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing tendering, estimating, and on-site measurement for a variety of projects. This includes working on established frameworks and contracts with prestigious clients in the public and residential sectors, along with opportunities in retirement living, commercial, and education. Key responsibilities include:
Preparing cost estimates for contracts and tenders, identifying potential commercial risks
Completing cost value reconciliations, ensuring effective contract planning
Collaborating with the Contracts Manager to set labour productivity targets
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth contract progress
Reviewing weekly site reports, ensuring all cost data (labour rates, budgets, value, progress, safety, quality) is accurate and up-to-dateRequirements:
Proven experience in a similar estimating and surveying role, with commercial management of projects from tender to final account
Experience managing projects worth up to £3 million annually
Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills, with an eye for identifying business opportunities and maximising value
A collaborative, organised, and honest approach, thriving in a team environment and building long-term relationships
