Quantity Surveyor

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected regional main contractor with a long-standing presence across Yorkshire and the North of England. The Role: Quantity Surveyor

You will take commercial responsibility for the effective delivery of new build projects, working closely with the site teams, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure financial targets are achieved and risk is effectively managed.

Working across both pre- and post-contract stages, this is a key role in the successful commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of work.

Key Responsibilities

Take full commercial ownership of one or more live projects
Prepare, manage, and report on budgets, cost plans, and forecasts
Procure subcontract packages and manage their accounts throughout the project lifecycle
Monitor project performance, valuation, and cost reporting against agreed budgets
Ensure effective change control and variation management
Prepare and submit monthly valuations, applications, and final accounts
Identify, manage, and mitigate risk on assigned projects
Liaise with project managers, clients, and design teams to resolve commercial issues
Support junior surveyors or assistants, as required

What They're Looking For

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or developer
Strong background working on new build projects between £2m-£30m
Sector knowledge in at least one of: residential, industrial, commercial, healthcare, or education
Strong working knowledge of the full project lifecycle from pre-construction through to final account
Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
Good negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
Proficient in relevant software (e.g. Excel, cost management tools, and contract admin software)
Familiarity with standard forms of contract including JCT
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management preferred
Full UK driving licence
