Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Groundworks)

Salary: £55,000 – £60,000

Location: Swindon, Chippenham, Bath and Bristol area

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity:

We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our commercial team. You'll play a key role in managing the financial aspects of multiple residential groundwork packages across the South West. This role suits someone hands-on, commercially astute, and comfortable working at pace across several live sites.

Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:

Oversee the commercial management of multiple groundworks packages for residential developments
Prepare and submit payment applications, valuations, variations, and final accounts
Monitor project progress and costs, ensuring targets and margins are met
Procure and manage sub-contract packages
Produce bills of quantities, cost plans, and schedules of work
Complete monthly CVRs and financial forecasting
Handle change control, risk management, and contractual compliance
Work closely with site teams, engineers, clients, and stakeholders
Ensure adherence to NEC or JCT contract terms and company procedures

Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:

Strong commercial awareness and solid understanding of groundworks
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
Proficiency in MS Office and QS software (e.g., Excel, Causeway or similar)
Full UK driving licence (travel to sites and regional offices required)

Desirable:

Self-motivated and proactive with a problem-solving mindset
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team
Comfortable managing both internal and client-facing responsibilities
HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying (preferred, not essential)
