About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a busy commercial construction team working across a range of projects, including high-value residential, education, and commercial sectors. This role offers the chance to work on complex bids and contribute directly to winning new work.

You will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates from initial tender documents through to final contract pricing, supporting the business’s growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and commercial viability

* Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope and risks

* Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and pricing information

* Collaborate closely with project managers, design teams, and commercial leads throughout the pre-construction phase

* Produce cost plans and budgets to assist in commercial decision-making

* Ensure all estimates meet internal quality and compliance standards

* Maintain a database of rates, subcontractor prices, and material costs

* Assist with value engineering and cost-saving initiatives during tender and early works stages

Requirements

* Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, ideally within a main contractor environment

* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs

* Competent in reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings

* Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy

* Effective communication and negotiation skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) preferred

* Relevant construction qualification (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
