Environmental Advisor
Great opportunity for an Environmental Advisor with a first class Civil engineering company working on a major civils project near Portsmouth
The Environmental Advisor will be responsible for assisting, advising and implementing environmental processes, procedures and improve initiatives
Responsibilities of the Environmental Advisor
* Maintain a working knowledge of all related legislation and ensure compliance.
* Liaise with site delivery teams to provide advice, support and training on all aspects of environmental compliance
* Monitor energy usage on site and improving information capture with the aim of improving energy performance and reducing the carbon footprint.
* Completing site inspections and discussing findings and recommendations with project staff.
* Helping to ensure compliance with ISO14001, ISO50001 and environmental licenses, permits etc.
* Water pollution prevention on site in particular silt management and taking water samples.
* Developing innovative solutions, e.g. renewable energy systems for site plant and equipment.
* Liaising with environmental specialists, regulators and client representatives.
* Contributing to written bids for new contracts and awards.
* Monitor objectives/targets & report as required.
* Advising and assisting with audits and accreditation
* Dust and noise monitoring.
* Maintaining ecology management on site.
* Design and implementation of company-wide initiatives to improve environmental awareness. E.g. reducing carbon, minimising waste.
* Produce reports on site activities and contribute to the monthly report.
* Investigate environmental incidents and near mises.
* Maintaining the environmental dashboard/database.
Requirements of the Environmental Advisor
* Robust & up to date knowledge & understanding of Environmental legislation & best practice
* Understanding of core Environmental principles & regulations
* Legal compliance & Report writing
* Competent and comfortable working with Microsoft Applications
Ideal Qualifications Required
* Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
* Minimum of 2 years experience
* A recognised environmental qualification
* IRCA accredited QMS Lead Auditor (either 9000, 14001 or 45001).
* Membership of a professional body (IOSH, IEMA etc) (desirable)
* Site Environmental awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)
* CSCS card
