Company Overview
Our client, a reputable and long-established construction company, is seeking a self-motivated, confident, and experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join their Health & Safety team based in Glasgow. This is a key role ensuring consistent adherence to quality standards and management systems across a range of construction projects.
Role Overview
As Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for advising on all matters relating to Quality Assurance (QA), supporting the effective implementation of quality policies, and maintaining compliance with ISO and other regulatory standards. The role involves working across multiple sites, so flexibility to travel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and maintain robust quality systems in line with company procedures and industry best practice
Prepare, review, and update management system documentation in accordance with ISO standards
Develop and lead audit programmes for internal systems and business operations
Support the Compliance Manager in maintaining ISO and other relevant certifications
Conduct internal and external audits across company operations and supply chain partners, identifying areas for improvement
Provide QA guidance and technical support throughout the lifecycle of construction projects
Compile management reports on system performance, including analysis of trends and recommendations
Monitor, investigate, and help resolve defects, non-conformances, and customer complaints
Manage subcontractor and supplier pre-qualification and performance audits
Promote and lead quality improvement initiatives across the business
Stay informed of industry regulations and advise on their implications for business operations
Investigate incidents and quality-related issues, proposing corrective actions
Deliver QA-related training sessions and toolbox talks
Represent the company at client quality meetings and audits
Skills & Experience – Essential
ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification
Previous experience in a dedicated Quality Assurance role
Solid knowledge of ISO standards, British Standards, and relevant legislation
Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident with digital reporting tools
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel for audits across Scotland and Northern England
Desirable
Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. ICE, IEMA, IOSH, CQI)
HNC, HND, or Degree in an engineering-related discipline
Background in construction, civil engineering, health & safety, or rail
Familiarity with regulatory bodies such as SEPA, HSE, or ORR
Experience in data analysis and quality performance reporting
