Quantity Surveyor
I’d like someone with 2-5 years experience working with a Main Contractor.
I am looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor of a Growing Business.
This role suits someone who wants proper ownership and responsibility – not just number-crunching in the background.
Salary offered: £60-65k.
Role Overview:
You'll handle the commercial side of our refurbishment and fit-out jobs from start to finish. That means working closely with site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to keep costs on track and projects moving.
Day-to-day, you'll be:
* Running the commercial management on your own projects (with guidance)
* Sorting out valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Managing procurement and getting subcontract orders out
* Building good relationships with clients and subbies
* Keeping on top of cashflow forecasts and making sure everyone gets paid on time
* Flagging any commercial risks early so we can deal with them
Who my client is looking for:
* 2-5 years as a QS, ideally leading projects worth £50k-£5m
* Background with a reputable mid-sized refurb contractor
* Ready to take the reins on projects but happy to learn
* Good with people – you'll be talking to clients, consultants, and subcontractors daily
* Solid grasp of JCT contracts
* Comfortable with variations, subbie accounts, final accounts – the usual commercial stuff
* Know your way around Excel and cost tracking systems
Why work with my client: We're a tech-enabled main contractor doing complex refurbs and retrofits around London. Growing steadily with plenty of work in the pipeline.
Here's what they offer:
* Proper project ownership – not just assisting someone else
* Interesting work – heritage jobs, tricky cut-and-carve schemes, technically challenging stuff
* Small team – we all work closely together, no silos here
* Your ideas matter – we listen and let people influence how we do things
* Room to grow – as we expand, there are real opportunities to progress and shape your career
