Junior Estimator
My client are a Building Services & Specialist Contractor who have been established in 2003 who have 8 Offices throughout the UK.
As a business, they employ 300+ Staff Nationally and are expected to Turnover £55Mil+ this year.
Working within the Commercial & Public Sectors, their sites are generally within London, Surrey, Kent & Sussex.
The London Office is currently 15 strong, made up of 3 Admins along with Contract Managers & Project Managers.
Due to growth of business, they are now seeking a Trainee or Junior Estimator to join their team and progress through the business.
THE JOB – JUNIOR ESTIMATOR (FABRIC WORKS)
Monday – Friday / 8am – 4pm
You will be assisting a Senior Estimator on a day-to-day basis, getting involved in and producing tenders in Construction and Fabric Projects up to a value of £3,000,000.
Duties will include:
Tender & Estimating Support
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for building and fabric projects.
Measure quantities and compile take-offs from drawings, specifications, and site surveys.
Gather and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations to support cost planning.
Help compile Bills of Quantities (BoQ), schedules of works, or pricing documents.
Document and Data Management
Maintain up-to-date records of estimates, drawings, pricing schedules, and supplier contacts.
Organise and file documentation in line with company procedures and project timelines.
Input project data into estimating software or spreadsheets under supervision.
Supplier & Subcontractor Liaison
Contact suppliers and subcontractors to request quotations and verify cost information.
Maintain a log of responses, compare quotes, and escalate inconsistencies to the Estimator or Senior Estimator.
Cost Analysis and Benchmarking
Support in analysing historical project data to help benchmark costs for similar scopes of work.
Compare current estimates with previous projects to identify cost trends or anomalies.
Site Visits & Surveys
Attend site visits and pre-tender surveys with senior team members to develop an understanding of the scope of work.
Assist in gathering site information, taking photos, and documenting findings to inform estimates.
Learning and Development
Shadow experienced estimators to gain a practical understanding of the estimating process.
Attend internal and external training as directed to build knowledge of construction methods, materials, and costing.
Stay informed on industry standards, regulations, and best practices relevant to building and fabric works.
General Team Support
Provide general administrative and project support to the estimating team.
SALARY & PACKAGE
£25,000 – £35,000 (Depending on experience)
