General Foreman – Substation Groundworks

Location: Isle of Grain, Kent Job Type: Contract Start Date: Immediate / ASAP Rate: Competitive, dependent on experience

We have an urgent requirement for an experienced General Foreman to oversee a significant substation groundworks project on the Isle of Grain. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in heavy civil engineering and groundworks within an industrial or energy sector setting.

As the General Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all on-site groundworks operations. You will lead and motivate a team of operatives to ensure work is completed safely, to the highest quality standards, and in line with the project programme.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervising all groundworks activities, which may include excavation, deep drainage, reinforced concrete foundations, ducting, and other associated civil works.
Leading and managing direct and subcontracted site teams.
Ensuring stringent health, safety, and environmental standards are enforced and adhered to at all times, which is critical in a substation environment.
Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
Coordinating with project management, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Managing on-site plant, machinery, and materials to ensure efficient workflow.
Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries and progress reports.Essential Skills & Experience:

Proven experience as a General Foreman or Foreman on heavy civil engineering or large-scale groundworks projects.
Experience working on industrial sites such as substations, power stations, or similar process-driven environments is highly advantageous.
A strong understanding of reinforced concrete, drainage, and ductwork.
A valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) certificate.
A valid CSCS card.
Excellent leadership, communication, and man-management skills.
A thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations.This is a key role on a major infrastructure project with an immediate start available for the right candidate.
