Day Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35)

Summary

We have a critical, long-term contract opportunity for an experienced Land Surveyor to join a major rail depot upgrade project in East London. If you are a skilled surveyor with hands-on experience using Trimble instruments and CAD MicroStation within a rail environment, this is your chance to secure a stable, well-paid position for the next 12 months, and potentially longer. You will act as the key survey expert for the delivery team on this significant infrastructure scheme.

About the Role

As the Project Land Surveyor, you will provide comprehensive survey support to the core delivery team and various subcontractors. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure precision and accuracy across all phases of the project, from establishing control networks to final as-built surveys.

This role requires a proactive and technically proficient individual who can manage survey packages, liaise with engineering teams, and ensure all works are completed to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

Survey Management: Act as the appointed package manager for surveying subcontractors, managing their scope, instructions, and programme of works.
Site Control: Establish, transfer, and decommission the Survey Control Network. Set up and maintain baseline monitoring systems.
Technical Surveys: Conduct detailed topographical surveys, track alignment surveys, and as-built surveys for critical project elements.
Setting Out: Provide accurate setting out for all construction and engineering works on site.
Data Management: Process survey data, perform volume calculations, and manage instrument calibrations.
CAD & Modelling: Utilise CAD MicroStation to prepare setting out drawings (DXFs), convert models for engineers (DWG), and assist with general CAD modelling tasks.
Project Documentation: Prepare Work Package Plans (WPPs) and Task Briefing Sheets (TBSs) for all survey-related works. Manage survey RFIs, CEs, and other commercial correspondence.
BIM Integration: Perform VR scanning on-site to provide crucial data for the BIM team.Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Land Surveyor or Site Surveyor within a UK rail environment.
High level of proficiency with Trimble surveying instruments.
Strong practical knowledge of CAD MicroStation for data processing and modelling.
Demonstrable experience with setting out, topographical surveys, and control network installation on major projects.
Ability to manage surveying packages and subcontractors effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.What We Offer
