Key Requirements:
- 3rd Level Qualification in Engineering or Construction related discipline
- 10 years + experience in a similar role
- Proficient in the use of Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and MS Project
- Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office, Excel, Word etc.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in working on large scale construction/data centre projects
- Experienced in Managing a team of managers.
The Planning Manager reports directly to the Group Technical Director. The Group Technical Director reports to the CEO of the business and represents the MEP, Planning, Digital Construction & Design functions in the business.
The Planning Manager is responsible for all aspects of planning in all regions which we operate. The planning department should have the appropriate staffing levels and liaise closely with the Group Technical Director in this regard.
As a member of the project management team, you have the opportunity to influence safety culture onsite by demonstrating personal commitment, setting clear expectations, and effectively communicating safety policies.

The Planning Manager is a Global role and covers all jurisdictions in which Collen Operate and will be based in our Headquarters in Dublin. Visits to our sites in Europe is encouraged 6 times a year to spend time with the regional planning managers/leads face to face. Presently we only have projects in Ireland, UK and Sweden but this may evolve as the company expands.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Group Technical Director
- Implement standard planning procedures inline with the company’s planning manual.
- Ensure appropriate resources are in place for the planning team in all countries in which we operate (Joint responsibility with assistance from the Group Technical Director).
- Manage and supervise the planning teams in each region and plan where the resources are being allocated on a 6 month lookahead basis.
- Undertake High Level progress reviews and prepare HL Reports for Senior Management.
- Review and Innovate the systems which Collen use for planning activities. There should be a constant evolution of the planning systems to ensure we are utilising the latest technologies.
- Review and Agree Baseline Programmes for live projects prior to issue to Client.
- Review and Agree Baseline Programmes for live projects with key Subcontractors.
- Manage a consistent approach to project planning to include quality assurance, reporting & methodology across the region.
- Manage 4D Schedule requirements + liaise with the BIM team (Note we have 4D planners in the business that will report to the Planning Manager).
- Ensure the planning team have appropriate attendance at the Last Planner meetings in region.
- Support risk identification and problem solving across projects.
Job Description
- Develop tender programmes to support and compliment tender submissions. Note Collen have a full-time Tender planner who will work with the Planning Manager.
- Support development and assist members of the planning team across projects and prioritise workloads, delegate appropriately.
- Carry out Time Impact Assessments and assist with EOT / delay claims asrequired.
- Attend Subcontractor and Supplier progress meeting if the project planner is unavailable.
- Work with the construction directors regarding planning resources in the various regions alongside the Group Technical Director. There is very much a one team approach in Collen.
- Manage and develop progress monitoring techniques.
- Monitor and manage the implementation of reporting on Earned Value/ Progress S-Curves.
- Strong time management and communication skills are essential to this role, as well as computer literacy and the ability to prepare reports and administer necessary paperwork.
