Head of Building Control
An exciting leadership opportunity has just arisen within a well-established public sector team overseeing Building Control services across the South Worcestershire area.
As the strategic head of the Building Control function, you’ll be responsible for guiding a dedicated team of surveyors and administrative staff. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring statutory compliance across all services, providing expert technical oversight, and driving service performance to enhance local market engagement.
This is a newly created position designed to bring innovation and leadership to a growing regional team. The role also includes representing the authority in regulatory inspections, managing inter-authority board meetings, and supporting legal proceedings linked to building regulations.
Key Aspects of the Role:

Oversee and lead the Building Control service across multiple local councils

Provide technical guidance and support in accordance with current legislation
*
Manage and mentor surveyors and support staff
*
Lead service delivery performance and implement growth strategies
*
Represent the authority in official inspections and hearings
*
Collaborate with stakeholders and contribute to policy development
What We're Looking For:
*
Chartered professional (MRICS, MCABE or similar), with current registration with the Building Safety Regulator (Class 2 minimum)
*
In-depth understanding of current regulatory frameworks and emerging challenges in Building Control
*
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
*
Confident communicator able to build effective relationships at all levels
*
Experience in public sector environments, with a strong grasp of compliance, enforcement, and community engagement
*
Adaptable, well-organised, and solutions-focused
