Quantity Surveyor

Our client are an established and growing construction and refurbishment contractor operating across London, Hertfordshire, and the Home Counties. With a diverse portfolio that includes projects in the healthcare (NHS), education, commercial, and luxury residential sectors, they offer full lifecycle construction solutions—from new builds to complex refurbishments.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team and play a key role in ensuring the financial success of our projects.

The Role

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all costs related to construction and refurbishment projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. You’ll work closely with project teams to ensure that budgets are maintained, variations are managed effectively, and commercial opportunities are maximised.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare tender and contract documentation, including bills of quantities

* Manage project budgets, valuations, and cost forecasting

* Monitor and control project expenditure, identifying areas of risk or opportunity

* Liaise with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather accurate cost information

* Manage variations, claims, and final accounts

* Ensure compliance with contractual and legal requirements

* Provide regular financial reports to management and clients

* Attend project meetings and provide commercial insight and advice

Ideal Candidate

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or refurbishment

* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

* Experience working across healthcare, education, commercial, or residential sectors is desirable

* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills

* Proficient in using industry-standard estimating and project management software

* Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree)

* Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across London and the Home Counties
