Pre-Construction Manager

Here at cityscpae recruitment we are working on behalf of a reputable civil engineering contractor delivering large scale water and infrastructure projects across the North West. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a highly capable Pre-Construction Manager with strong experience using Primavera P6 to join their pre-construction and planning team.

This is a role combining pre-construction leadership with hands on P6 planning responsibilities, supporting high value civil engineering frameworks from tender stage through to live delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of robust tender programmes using Primavera P6, including full cost and resource loading.

Structure and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) in line with project and contractual requirements.

*

Coordinate closely with estimating, commercial, and engineering teams to develop accurate and deliverable programmes.

*

Ensure all programmes are compliant with NEC contract standards and submission requirements.

*

Support the transition from tender to construction phase with clear handover and baseline planning.

*

Update and maintain live project schedules, track progress, and produce accurate progress reports.

*

Carry out critical path and float analysis, identifying risks to programme and advising mitigation.

*

Support collaborative planning sessions and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements:

*

Proven experience in a Pre-Construction or Planning role within civil engineering or infrastructure.

*

Advanced user of Primavera P6 (cost and resource loading experience essential).

*

Familiarity with NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.

*

Experience working on water or infrastructure frameworks is highly desirable.

*

Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills.

*

Degree/HNC or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

*

Proficient with Microsoft Excel; reporting experience with MS Project or Power BI is a bonus.

Location & Working Pattern:

*

Hybrid working with offices based in the North West (Preston / Warrington area).

*

Occasional site visits required depending on project phase.

Package:

*

Basic salary between £65,000 – £85,000, depending on experience
