Fit Out and Fire Door Quantity Surveyor
About the Role:
We are seeking a forward-thinking, highly motivated, and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, focusing on Passive Fire Protection and Fire Door projects.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Fire Safety regulations, financial management and contractual obligations. You will play a crucial role in both the pre-construction and construction phases, ensuring cost accuracy and attention to detail that will contribute directly to the overall profitability and success of our fire protection projects.

Key Responsibilities
* Tendering & Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit competitive tenders for fire protection and fire door projects, ensuring all costs, materials, resources, and timeframes are accurately accounted for.
* Remeasurement of Works: Conduct site visits and remeasure completed works for passive fire protection systems and fire door installations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with safety standards.
* Ordering & Procurement: Ensure timely procurement of fire protection materials and fire doors, balancing cost-effectiveness with project deadlines and quality standards.
* Variation Management: Manage and track any variations or changes in the scope of fire protection and fire door works, adjusting costs and schedules as needed.
* Subcontractor Payments: Oversee subcontractor payments related to fire door installations and fire protection systems, ensuring accuracy in line with our terms and performance.
* Monthly Valuations & Payment Reviews: Conduct regular reviews of project valuations for ongoing fire protection projects, tracking outstanding payments to ensure financial targets are met.
* Compliance with Fire Safety Standards: Ensure that all fire protection installations and fire door projects adhere to relevant building codes, fire safety regulations, and industry standards.
* Cost Estimates & Feasibility: Prepare accurate cost estimates and feasibility analyses for higher management to support decision-making and project viability assessments.
* Value Engineering & Cost Savings: Work closely with the project team to identify value engineering opportunities and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining compliance with fire safety regulations.
* Collaboration with Contractors & Project Teams: Collaborate effectively with contractors, suppliers, and the internal project team to ensure smooth execution of fire protection and fire door installation works.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
* Education: Minimum HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
* Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with an comprehensive understanding on passive fire protection, fire doors, or construction-related projects.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of fire protection systems, fire door standards, and relevant regulatory compliance (e.g., BS 476, FD30, FD60 standards).
* Technical Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation, financial management, and construction processes.
* Communication Skills: Excellent communication and management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
* Computer Proficiency: Competence in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and other relevant software for financial tracking and project management.
Desirable Skills:
Passive Fire Knowledge: Experience in Passive Fire Protection, Fire Door installation and maintenance schemes. Understanding of technical requirements and what's required to meet standards to enable 3rd Party sign off of works.
Duties (Additional) :
* Tender Submissions & BoQ: Prepare detailed tender submissions and Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for passive fire protection and fire door projects, ensuring comprehensive coverage of costs and scope.
* Evaluate Tender Submissions: Review and assess tender submissions from suppliers and subcontractors, providing expert input for contract negotiations to secure the best value for the project.
* Provide Monthly Cost Reports: Deliver accurate monthly cost reports for ongoing fire protection projects, tracking expenses, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions.
* Collaboration with Project Teams: Work with the construction team to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of fire protection systems and fire doors, addressing any project scope or material issues promptly.
Additional Information:
This role is office-based, with site visits required as needed to ensure the smooth progression of fire protection and fire door projects. The role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a specialized and growing field within the construction industry.
