JOB VACANCY: HS&E Advisor

🕒 Hours: 06:00 – 15:00, Monday to Friday (40 hours/week)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Advisor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the ambition and scope to develop into a more senior role over time.

The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, transport, or working with heavy plant/equipment environments.

Qualifications

Essential:

* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent

Key Responsibilities

* Collaborate with the HS&E team to drive continuous improvements across the business.

* Monitor and review operational and written procedures for compliance and effectiveness.

* Propose and implement new protective and preventative measures when required.

* Ensure a consistent approach to health and safety across all company sites and satellite offices.

* Keep policies and procedures updated in line with current legislation.

* Conduct workplace risk assessments and create safe systems of work.

* Deliver HS&E induction training for new staff and visitors.

* Design, produce, and deliver internal HS&E training and toolbox talks.

* Arrange and manage external training requirements.

* Investigate and analyse accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and corrective actions.

* Conduct routine site inspections and audits, document findings, and follow up on corrective measures.

* Liaise with occupational health services and coordinate staff appointments.

* Ensure visitor and contractor compliance with company policies and procedures.

* Support ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 audits and maintain compliance.

* Champion environmental and sustainability initiatives, including efforts toward Net Zero.

* Support inspection planning for operational equipment (LOLER, PUWER, etc.).

* Manage and assess contractors’ compliance and on-site safety.

* Act as a point of contact for insurers, local authorities, and regulatory bodies.

* Maintain up-to-date and accurate HS&E data and documentation.

* Identify and escalate health, safety, and environmental risks.

* Participate actively in the company’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills

* A practical, hands-on approach to health and safety

* Keen interest in continuous improvement and personal development

* Familiarity with ISO standards (45001, 14001)

* Passionate about reducing environmental impact and promoting workplace safety
