Business Development Manager
Business Development Manager opportunity in Essex
GVR Solutions are currently representing a very well-established main contractor, based in Essex, who are actively in the market for a Business Development Manager to join their team.
The role primarily will be working with alongside one of the Directors to source and bring in new enquiries. It’s not really a sales and marketing position as such, more targeted research, followed up with whatever means necessary to bring in the new enquiry. Once in, the new enquiry will go to the bid team for processing.

* Salary from £40K – £60K
Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:
* Identify and pursue new public sector opportunities across construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.
* Monitor and manage our existing client database, including tracking key framework renewal dates and ensuring timely engagement.
* Organise, attend, and represent the company at networking events, trade shows, and industry functions to build relationships and raise our profile.
* Support Directors with business development initiatives, proposals, client meetings, and strategic planning.
* Work closely with pre-construction and estimating teams to align new opportunities with company capabilities.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, competitors, and tendering opportunities.
Requirements for the Business Development Manager:
* Proven experience in a Business Development role within the construction industry, ideally with a main contractor.
* Strong understanding of public sector procurement and frameworks (e.g., NHS, local authorities, education).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
* Organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
* A network of industry contacts in Essex/London/Home Counties would be a distinct advantage.
