Estimator
Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Estimator to join our clients team, this is a key role for a number of projects across the region.
Responsibilities
* Identify new job opportunities
* Fill out pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) when needed
* Take full responsibility for managing and completing tender submissions, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met
* Review drawings and documents to work out detailed cost estimates
* Measure work needed and prepare bills of quantities, or use the client’s provided documents to price the job
* Work with clients to answer questions and manage changes during the tender process
* Visit sites to better understand the work involved
* Suggest better or more cost-effective materials or methods where possible (value engineering)
* Review prices from suppliers and subcontractors and analyse the best options
* Gather feedback on tenders, whether won or lost, to improve future bids
* Work closely with quantity surveyors, procurement teams, subcontractors, and others
* Stay informed about current building methods, rules, and laws to ensure all estimates follow the latest standards
* Promote continuous improvement, encouraging smarter and more efficient ways of working
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
* Proven experience as an Estimator or similar role
* Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office
* Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations
* Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
Day-to-day
* Reviewing drawings and documents to prepare cost estimates
* Collaborating with clients to answer questions and manage changes
* Visiting project sites to better understand the work involved
* Analysing prices from suppliers and subcontractors
* Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating processes
