A leading international Design & Build contractor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of complex commercial, high-tech, and industrial projects in London. With a strong pipeline of UK and global work, the business is known for precision engineering, integrated systems, and sustainable construction.
This is a key site-based role requiring strong coordination skills, technical knowledge, and experience managing subcontractors and documentation. Experience working on projects in China or for Chinese clients will be seen as highly beneficial, particularly with respect to coordination practices, engineering standards, and multicultural project environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise and coordinate mechanical subcontractors across all project stages.
* Review technical drawings, submittals, and specifications for accuracy and buildability.
* Prepare documentation for procurement, material schedules, and installation tracking.
* Monitor programme compliance, quality standards, and project milestones.
* Perform regular inspections of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical installations.
* Support planning, sequencing, and commissioning of complex building services systems.
* Attend and contribute to coordination and design review meetings.
* Ensure compliance with UK regulations, CDM, and HSE standards.
* Track changes to design and update redline/as-built documentation.
* Assist with budget preparation and contractor/supplier measurement sheets.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or equivalent.
* 3+ years’ experience in a mechanical site engineering role on commercial or industrial builds.
* Knowledge of UK building regulations, commissioning standards, and MEP integration.
* Experience working in China or with Chinese contractors, suppliers, or clients is highly desirable.
* Strong coordination and communication skills with ability to work in multicultural environments.
* Understanding of technical compliance, QA/QC, and digital construction tools (e.g. BIM).
* Full eligibility to work in the UK and a valid UK driving licence.
