Health & Safety Manager – Heavy Civils & Structural Refurbishment
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join a growing construction business delivering technically complex structural refurbishment and heavy civils projects across London. This is a standalone role, reporting directly into senior leadership, with full autonomy to manage and drive the health & safety function across multiple live sites.
The Role:
As Health & Safety Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance are consistently maintained across the company's diverse project portfolio. The role will be hands-on, site-focused, and suited to someone with a strong background in managing H&S on high-risk schemes involving structural alteration, basement construction, and cut & carve works.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular site audits and inspections to monitor compliance with H&S policies and procedures
Develop, review, and implement health & safety plans, RAMS, and site-specific risk assessments
Act as the go-to advisor for all health & safety matters across multiple projects
Provide training, toolbox talks, and H&S inductions for site teams and subcontractors
Investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting and lessons learned
Collaborate with project managers and site teams to maintain a positive health & safety culture
Keep up to date with legislative and regulatory changes and ensure company-wide compliance
About You:
NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum requirement)
Proven experience in a standalone H&S role within construction, ideally on structural refurb, basement, and/or heavy civils projects
Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation
Confident, pragmatic, and approachable with excellent communication skills
Full UK driving licence
