Your new role
Our client is seeking a motivated and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in Liverpool. This role will support the delivery of highways, resurfacing, and infrastructure projects across the UK, assisting with all aspects of quantity surveying and commercial management. The successful candidate will work closely with senior QSs and project managers, gaining hands-on experience and professional development in a fast-paced, growing business.
Responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation of valuations, cost forecasts, and project budgets
Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
Helping to prepare, issue, and monitor contracts and variations
Gathering and managing project data for commercial reporting
Attending site visits and progress meetings
Assisting with interim payments and final accounts
Supporting the commercial team in maintaining accurate project documentation
Liaising with internal teams, clients, and supply chain partners
Ensuring compliance with company procedures and commercial standards
What you will need to succeed:
Some prior experience in a commercial or QS role (internship, placement year, or post-grad experience welcome)
HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
Basic understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
Strong communication and organisational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow within the role
Full UK driving licence (desirable)
