We’re working with an innovative contractor operating across Northamptonshire and the surrounding regions, delivering high-quality projects within Retirement Facilities. Due to a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they are now looking to appoint a Design Manager to join their team with the potential to lead their current Design Management team, experience dependent.
🔧 The Role
As Senior Design Manager, you will lead the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring the design is efficient, buildable, and meets all regulatory requirements. You’ll be the key liaison between consultants, clients, and the project team, helping to drive design solutions that align with programme, cost, and quality objectives.
✅ Key Responsibilities
* Manage the design process from bid through completion on multiple projects
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and the construction team to resolve design issues
* Ensure compliance with building regulations and contractual obligations
* Support value engineering and buildability reviews
* Lead design meetings and manage design deliverables in line with programme milestones
* Proven experience in managing a design team
👤 About You
* Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a design management role with a main contractor
* Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and construction processes
* Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary design teams
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience across a range of sectors (e.g. commercial, residential, education, healthcare) is highly desirable
