Claims Officer

We are a working with a leading Tier 1 main contractor with a proud history of delivering high-profile projects across commercial, residential, infrastructure, and public sectors. Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, they are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Claims Officer to join their Commercial and Legal team.

Role Overview:
As a Claims Officer, you will play a key role in identifying, preparing, managing, and supporting the resolution of contractual claims and disputes across multiple projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC, JCT, etc.), excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with project, commercial, and legal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Support project teams in the preparation and submission of contractual claims, including extensions of time, loss and expense, and variations.

Analyse contracts, programme delays, cost implications, and correspondence to identify claim opportunities.

Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Planners, and Legal Counsel to build robust claims with supporting evidence.

Maintain a claims register and provide regular reporting to senior commercial management.

Assist in negotiations and dispute resolution processes, including adjudication or arbitration when necessary.

Ensure claims are prepared in accordance with contractual requirements and submitted within specified timeframes.

Keep up to date with industry developments and legal precedents relevant to construction claims.

Requirements:

*

Proven experience in a similar role within a main contractor or consultancy, ideally in the UK.

Strong working knowledge of standard construction contract forms (NEC, JCT, FIDIC).

Background in quantity surveying, contract administration, or legal support within construction.

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft persuasive and well-structured claim documents.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

*

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or a related discipline preferred
