Our client is looking for a proactive and organised Wayleave Officer. You will be the vital link between the clients engineering teams and property stakeholders, securing the necessary consents and agreements to keep their network build on track.
In this field-based role, you'll engage with private landowners, property managers, and local authorities to negotiate and secure wayleave agreements that align with project timelines.
Your expertise will ensure smooth progression through often complex land ownership and access considerations.
Your duties:
* Collaborate with design and legal teams to carry out desktop audits of pre-build areas, identifying landownership and assessing potential risks to project timelines.
* Conduct on-site visits to evaluate property access and communicate the benefits and logistics of overhead lines and substations to stakeholders.
* Secure wayleave agreements by engaging with homeowners, landlords, managing agents, and landowners, negotiating favourable terms for the business.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all wayleave activity using internal systems and tools.
* Provide regular updates to the Director of Engineering on progress, risks, and challenges during the wayleave acquisition process.
* Maintain a sound understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding wayleave agreements, including the rights and limitations they entail.
* Support senior management in interpreting policies and regulatory obligations, ensuring ongoing compliance across all operations.
* Promote adherence to relevant regulatory requirements related to land access and build operations.
You will be:
* Proven experience in a field-based role within utilities, land/property, or similar sectors.
* Strong knowledge of wayleave agreements, land access rights, and relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and diplomatically.
* Self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload independently to meet deadlines.
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
