ROLE: Mechanical Contracts Manager

LOCATION: Mid Kent
SALARY: Circa £70k – £80k

THE COMPANY

This company based in the Mid Kent area who have experienced significant growth in recent years are recruiting for a Contracts Manager with a bias towards the Mechanical side. This role is mainly office based with some site visits across the South East and London. They will consider candidates who are currently working as a Mechanical Contracts Manager or people looking to switch from M&E Project management into contract management. THE JOB

The Mechanical Contracts Manager job offers the chance to take full ownership of projects from design through to handover. You’ll manage multiple live projects, typically ranging from £200k to £3 million+, while taking a hands-on approach to leading your own mechanical delivery team within an established M&E division.

Split between their Kent office and regular site visits, you’ll play a critical part in both client-facing and internal leadership, ensuring high performance across programme, quality, and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee Project Engineers and ensure timely updates via Smartsheet tracking.

* Ensure design return dates align with project delivery plans.

* Lead Estimating Handover meetings and set mobilisation targets.

* Act as the primary contact for initial client liaison and attend Pre-Contract Meetings.

* Manage early deliverables including F10 notifications, R&D and asbestos processes.

* Review Health & Safety documents and sign off Construction Phase Plans.

* Forecast costs and set programme and commercial targets alongside the QS.

* Approve procurement documentation and coordinate project startup with the wider team.

* Oversee Project Managers and their day-to-day operations and reporting.

* Conduct site visits, audits, and progress meetings with delivery teams and stakeholders.

* Manage variations, track applications, and report commercial performance.

* Maintain direct communication with Directors and escalate high-risk concerns where necessary.

* Ensure project handover documentation (O&M, Q&A) is accurate and submitted on time.

* Lead Lessons Learned reviews and complete Client Satisfaction Surveys.

* Support ongoing business opportunities through relationship building post-handover.

* Build and develop your own mechanical delivery team.

* Lead internal performance reviews and support recruitment.

* Engage in business development and contribute to the ongoing improvement of delivery processes.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

* Recent experience in a Mechanical Contracts or Project manager position, background in mechanical contracting within building services is essential.

* Demonstrable experience in project management, commercial oversight, and client engagement.

* Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and grow a team.

* Comfortable managing multiple live projects in a fast-paced, technical environment.

* Able to work across office and site settings, maintaining regular client and internal communication.
