Contracts Manager

A respected and long-standing main contractor based on the Essex coast, this forward-thinking business has earned a reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment, fit-out and new build projects across the commercial, healthcare, education and public sectors. With a proud history of repeat business and a portfolio of projects ranging from £500k to £10m+, the company places a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation and delivering works to the highest standards across the South East and London.
The Role:
As Contracts Manager, you will take full responsibility for the delivery of multiple construction projects across the region, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to a high standard. This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to join a supportive and established leadership team, working on a diverse range of schemes and overseeing Site Managers, subcontractors and delivery teams from pre-construction through to final handover.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects concurrently, managing site teams and subcontractors throughout the build.
• Lead project planning, resourcing, health & safety and financial tracking to ensure programme and quality expectations are met.
• Collaborate closely with clients, consultants and internal departments to build strong working relationships and ensure effective communication.
• Take responsibility for progress reporting, variation management and problem solving across your portfolio.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to site staff, maintaining a positive, high-performing culture.
• Attend regular progress and client meetings and contribute to pre-construction activities as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager with a main contractor delivering refurbishment and new build projects.
• Background in managing multiple schemes up to £10m in value.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Sound technical knowledge and a focus on quality, health & safety and commercial outcomes.
• Ability to travel to sites across Essex, Suffolk, London and surrounding areas.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certifications preferred.
