Site Manager
Waites Recruitment Consultancy have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Manager (Construction) for a client based in Hampshire on a full time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to grow and develop their career path.
Site Manager
My client has grown into one of the most reputable building firms across Hampshire and Dorset. We specialise in bespoke new homes, high-end refurbishments, and select commercial developments. Our work is defined by meticulous detail, strong client relationships, and a reputation for integrity and professionalism.
We are seeking an experienced, commercially aware, and conscientious Site Manager to join our team and help deliver distinctive, design-led projects to the highest standards. This role may not be suited to those from a volume housebuilding or large contractor background where a command-and-control style of management is the norm. Instead, we’re looking for someone who is technically capable, calm under pressure, and thrives in a collaborative, quality-focused environment, someone who leads with respect and communicates effectively with trades, clients, and professionals alike.
About the Role
You will take full ownership of site operations: planning and coordinating day-to-day activities, maintaining excellent relationships with clients, architects, and subcontractors, and ensuring that quality, programme, and commercial targets are met. You’ll be instrumental in upholding the companies reputation and delivering projects that exceed expectations.
This role will suit a technically competent and well-organised individual who enjoys the problem-solving and people-management elements of construction. You’ll understand the importance of collaboration while maintaining control over logistics, programme, and finish.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all site activities from start to completion.
• Work closely with the Project Manager and QS to manage budgets, monitor costs, and report progress.
• Manage site teams and subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, to programme and to specification.
• Build strong working relationships with architects, clients, consultants, and local authorities.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Building Regulations, CDM requirements, and company standards.
• Plan ahead and problem-solve to keep projects moving forward efficiently.
• Drive quality on site: from structure through to final finishes.
• Produce and maintain site records including progress reports, diaries, and snagging lists.
The Right Person Will Have:
• A proactive, solutions-focused attitude with strong leadership and communication skills.
• Exacting standards and an eye for detail; proud of their work and keen to get it right.
• A personable and professional manner: able to engage confidently with clients and consultants.
• A high degree of autonomy, organisation, and self-motivation.
• The ability to balance technical knowledge with a common-sense, hands-on approach.
Essential Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years’ site management experience delivering residential or mixed-use projects.
• A strong track record running jobs valued between £500k and £5m.
• SMSTS certification.
• Valid First Aid at Work qualification.
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and current Building Regulations.
• Full clean UK driving licence
