Our client, a respected main contractor based in Colchester, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional with strong estimating expertise to play a key role in securing a consistent pipeline of commercial projects.

The Role:

The successful Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of commercial projects, ensuring tenders are submitted on time and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Tendering for both New build and Refurbishment schemes

*

Preparing detailed and competitive tenders across a variety of sectors including Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Industrial, Retail, and Residential, typically ranging from £1m to £15m

*

Interpreting drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

*

Liaising with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to clarify scope and pricing

*

Compiling and presenting complete tender submissions and supporting documentation

*

Collaborating closely with the pre-construction, commercial, and operational teams

*

Monitoring and analysing market rates and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitiveness

Candidate Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a dedicated estimating role within the construction industry

*

Proven track record in pricing tenders, including both traditional and Design & Build tender methods

*

Strong analytical, mathematical, and IT skills

*

Excellent attention to detail and strong communication abilities

*

Proficient in relevant estimating software

*

Work full-time from the client’s head office in Colchester
