ROLE: Quantity Surveyor – M&E
LOCATION: Medway, Kent
SALARY: Circa £55k – £65k DOE

THE JOB
This exciting Quantity Surveyor – M&E job will aid a growing business and will consist of a mixture of office and site-based work. Work within the Commercial team you will help manage all costs on a
range of projects to minimise the cost of each project whilst maximising value for money and maintaining the required delivery standards. You will work closely with the Project Managers and assume responsibility for a full range of commercial duties to provide effective financial and contractual control on all contracts.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing monthly payment applications and agreeing with Client’s QS
* Preparing internal budgets and working alongside the Procurement team to develop these budgets.
* Preparing monthly cashflow reports
* Managing change by identifying, valuing, and agreeing variations
* Collating monthly labour, material, plant, and subcontractor cost data to feed into Senior Management cost reports
* Assisting with reviews of proposed contracts, contractual arrangements, and contract documentation
* Preparation of sub-contract orders – from tender enquiries to placement of order
* Daily administration of subcontractor accounts to ensure timely management of all costs from point of order through to payment.
* Evaluation of sub-contractor applications and raising relative payment certificates
* Providing support to Pre-Construction team by reviewing tender documentation
* Assisting with routine assessments of commercial risk on projects
* Regular meetings with Project Team members to provide support on any commercial issues.
* Assisting and advising on routine contract administration issues
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
* Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management role, ideally within the M&E or Fit-Out sector
* Ideally minimum HNC qualified but may be working towards a recognised qualification.
* Appropriate commercial and financial experience on a range of construction projects, both large and small
* Reasonable knowledge of mechanical and electrical installations in large buildings
* Experience of various types of contract and contractual frameworks
* Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering information.
* Strong awareness of recognised commercial management processes used across the full timeline of any construction project.
* Working understanding of procurement, stock management, health and safety best practice and legislation
* Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
* Full UK Driving Licence
