Senior Quantity Surveyor
Ivy Resource Group are recruiting for a talented and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support commercial delivery on major healthcare and education projects in the South West.
Our client is a Tier 1 contractor seeking a commercially astute and proactive professional to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is based in Exeter, with flexible working options considered.

Our client is a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out company. They deliver vital projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water and the environment.
The Role Entails:
This is a key commercial role responsible for overseeing the financial and contractual delivery of high-value healthcare and education construction projects.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage project cost control, subcontractor procurement, reporting, and final account settlement while working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and the wider commercial team.
You will be instrumental in ensuring commercial success, contractual compliance, and delivery to budget – with opportunities to progress within a dynamic and supportive team.
What You Will Be Doing:
Manage all commercial aspects of healthcare and education projects from start to finish
Prepare and review sub-contract documentation, valuations, and variations
Oversee cost planning, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting
Support procurement strategy and negotiation of key packages
Liaise with stakeholders including clients, consultants, and internal teams
Ensure projects comply with contractual terms and risk management protocols
Contribute to project cash flow management and final account agreement
Mentor junior quantity surveyors and support commercial development
Monitor commercial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities
Coordinate with site teams to ensure accurate progress valuations and reporting
What We Need From You:
Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor role within main contracting
Strong knowledge of healthcare and education construction projects
Excellent understanding of NEC and JCT contract forms
Experience in managing budgets on complex projects from £2m+
Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in financial reporting, forecasting and value engineering
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or equivalent)
RICS membership desirable but not essential
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Salary & Benefits:
Up to £85,000 (depending on experience)
