Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 + Car Allowance
The Client
I am working with a well-established regional fit out contractor specialising in high-end commercial interiors. They deliver workplace, hospitality, healthcare and education fit-out and refurbishment projects throughout the UK. Known for their collaborative approach, they foster long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
The Role
They are seeking to appoint an experienced and well-rounded Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead to oversee a number of fit-out project in Manchester, due to commence in July 2025 and run through to January 2026. Valued at circa £4m, this project will be your immediate focus, followed by an opportunity to influence the commercial infrastructure of the business and take a leadership role in the development of internal systems and strategy. This role offers a clear pathway to Commercial Manager and Commercial Director level.
Key Responsibilities
• Full commercial management of a major high-end hotel fit-out project from pre-construction through to final account
• Develop and implement commercial procedures, systems, and controls across the business
• Manage procurement, subcontractor negotiation, and contract administration
• Track and report on project costs, cash flow, and profitability
• Build positive working relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants and internal delivery teams
• Support project delivery with accurate forecasting, timely valuations, and risk mitigation
• Champion value engineering and project cost savings without compromising on quality
Requirements
• Proven UK experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead in fit-out, refurbishment, or interiors contracting
• Excellent knowledge of UK construction contracts and commercial best practice
• Friendly, adaptable and relationship-focused approach to stakeholder engagement
• Able to lead on variation management, but with a balanced and collaborative mindset
• Commercially ambitious and eager to grow into a senior leadership role
• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
