Job Title: Interim Building Control Manager
Location: West of England (2 days/week in office)
Rate: Up to circa £85 per hour (Negotiable DOE)
IR35 Status: Outside IR35 Contract
Length: 6 months (rolling)
Start Date: ASAP – Interviews w/c 1st July
Overview: Confido Consult is working in exclusive partnership with a well-regarded local authority in the West of England to appoint an Interim Building Control Manager on an initial 6-month contract (likely to extend).
This is a leadership-level opportunity suited to experienced Building Control (Registered Building Inspector) professionals who can provide stability, strategic input, and day-to-day oversight within a small, capable team.
About the Role: You will be stepping into a well-functioning and stable service within a high-performing council. This is not a crisis-management brief – the team is in a good position, with existing processes and relationships in place. Your role will be to support ongoing service improvement, provide leadership and technical assurance, and represent the function at senior level.
Requirements:
· Proven experience in a Building Control leadership or management role (preferably within a local authority setting)
· Strong working knowledge of building regulations and relevant legislation
· Comfortable leading a small team and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to contribute to strategic planning and service development
