Project Manager

We are looking for a highly capable Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex construction projects ranging from £5 million to £20 million, covering both refurbishment and new build works. The role will be focused on schemes in the NHS and/or education sectors, which demand meticulous attention to programme, stakeholder coordination, and compliance with sector-specific regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the end-to-end delivery of construction projects (pre-construction, procurement, delivery, handover).

*

Manage multiple stakeholders, including NHS Trusts, schools/universities, design teams, and local authorities.

*

Lead refurbishment works in live environments, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

*

Manage new build projects from groundworks through to practical completion.

*

Develop, monitor, and maintain construction programmes, budgets, and risk management plans.

*

Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, building regulations, H&S, infection prevention (for healthcare), and safeguarding (for education).

*

Manage and coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver on time and within budget.

*

Conduct regular site inspections, client meetings, and progress reporting.

*

Maintain high standards of quality assurance, health & safety, and environmental compliance.

*

Drive a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability on-site.

Skills & Experience Required:

*

Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager on £5M–£20M construction projects.

*

Strong background in both refurbishment (especially in live operational environments) and new build construction.

*

Sector-specific experience in NHS facilities (hospitals, health centres) and/or education buildings (schools, universities).

*

Proven ability to manage and motivate site teams and subcontractors.

*

Strong commercial and contractual awareness (e.g. JCT / NEC contracts).

*

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to manage multiple stakeholders.

*

Experienced in using construction software/tools such as Asta Powerproject, MS Project, and document management systems.

Qualifications & Certifications:

*

Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

*

CSCS (Black or White Card – Manager/Professionally Qualified).

*

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).

*

First Aid at Work.

*

Relevant certifications for working in healthcare/education environments (e.g. DBS check, ILS training, if applicable).

Desirable Attributes:

*

Infection control training or experience delivering projects in live hospital settings.

*

Experience with phased delivery and working in restricted-access environments.

*

Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement abilities.

*

Ability to resolve conflicts, mitigate risks, and maintain programme control under pressure
