Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: St Fergus, Aberdeenshire

Our client a leading engineering and infrastructure contractor is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team at the St Fergus Gas Terminal. This site-based position is a fantastic opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects in the natural resources sector, contributing to the UK's transition to low-carbon energy.
The company operates across multiple countries, delivering design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance services for a wide range of energy infrastructure — including onshore and offshore pipelines, gas terminals, and renewable energy facilities.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in overseeing commercial operations across the project, ensuring that all financial and contractual matters are efficiently managed. Duties will include:
Ensuring compliance with internal commercial processes and governance frameworks
Managing internal cost reporting and client-facing commercial documentation
Preparing valuations and applications for payment with full supporting evidence
Producing and presenting cost reports in accordance with contractual obligations
Managing procurement schedules for subcontractors and materials
Administering subcontractor accounts from requisition to final account agreement
Leading change management and contract administration activities
Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
Ensuring accurate cost allocation and coding for both internal and external reporting
Conducting quantity measurements in line with standard methods of measurement
Requirements
A degree or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field
Strong experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (or a QS ready to take the next step)
Proven knowledge of NEC forms of contract
Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., RICS or ICES) — or actively working towards chartership
Solid background within the civil engineering and infrastructure sectors
Proven experience working in the oil and gas industries is essential
Strong communication, organisational, and negotiation skills
Full UK driving licence
