One of our close clients are on the lookout for an experienced Estimator to join their team and support the bidding process for highways and civil engineering projects. The role involves preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of civil engineering works, from initial tender stages through to project completion. You will work closely with the commercial and project management teams to ensure accurate pricing, cost control, and risk management across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:
Tender Preparation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for highways and civils projects, including materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor costs.
Site Visits & Assessments: Conduct site surveys and assessments to gather the necessary data for accurate estimating.
Cost Analysis: Analyse project drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify and quantify the scope of works and materials required.
Bid Management: Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, ensuring that all bids are competitive and compliant with client requirements.
Risk & Value Management: Identify potential risks and opportunities in project costs and develop strategies to mitigate risks and maximize value.
Collaboration: Work closely with the project managers, engineers, and clients to discuss project requirements and clarify scope and specifications.
Cost Control: Monitor project budgets and forecasts, providing support for cost tracking and reporting during project execution.
Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate cost and pricing documents, including breakdowns, quotations, and supporting paperwork.
Market Research: Stay updated with industry trends, material costs, and new techniques to enhance cost accuracy and competitiveness. Essential Qualifications & Skills:
Proven experience as an Estimator in the highways, civils, or construction sectors.
Strong understanding of civil engineering works, including highways, drainage, earthworks, and infrastructure.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Estimate, or similar).
Excellent knowledge of construction costs, materials, and labour rates.
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to assess and quantify project scope accurately.
Good communication skills, with the ability to work with internal teams and external clients.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Full driving license (for site visits and client meetings). Desirable Qualifications:
HNC/D or degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Experience with NEC, JCT, or other relevant contract types.
Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) and how it applies to estimating.
Experience with value engineering and cost optimization strategies.
CSCS Card or relevant industry qualification. Why Join Them?
