HVAC ENGINEER
(Working within a University)
Location – Southampton
6-month temporary position
£18.67 per hour based on a 37-hour week
Flexible start/finish times.
Use of university van when travelling between university site locations (driving licence required).
Reed Recruitment are recruiting for a HVAC Engineer, for a period of 6 months to work within a university in Southampton.
The role:
To carry out essential Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and repairs to ensure the University's HVAC systems are statutory compliant and fit for the learning environment. You will carry out minor works and undertake housekeeping and safety inspections of the HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) tasks in accordance with competencies and training such as the following examples:
Heat pumps
VRV and VRF systems
Split systems
F-Gas compliance testing
Chiller and ASHP UnitsCarry out reactive maintenance and break down repairs, including fault finding, within areas of competencies and training such as the following examples:
Evacuating and recharging of systems
Replacement of components within the HVAC systems.
Replacement of faulty controls.
Replacement/stripping down of faulty condensate pumps.
Checking, Diagnosis and Resetting faults within HVAC systems.
As a member of the Technical Services team, you will:
Work with the Building Services Engineer to make sure that the mechanical systems kept functioning as the University requires, including relating any technical issues.
Use your experience and knowledge, working with the Building Services Engineer to analyse why something has gone wrong and solutions to repair/fix.Qualifications
Time served apprenticeship or equivalent.
Proven post qualification experience.
Either a City and Guilds, BESA or LCL awards qualification to at least level 2 but preferably level 1 Knowledge
Understanding of the HVAC and HE sector.
An understanding of electrical and mechanical system including controls.
Sound knowledge of the maintenance of large electrical/mechanical infrastructure systems.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written
