Site Manager (x2), Parrott Construction, Kempston

We specialise in delivering high-quality residential and commercial new build and refurbishment projects for both public and private sectors across East Anglia and South-East England.
We are currently expanding our team and are looking to recruit for the following full time position:
JOB TITLE: SITE MANAGER (x2)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Construction Director
KEY ROLE: The management of construction work on site in accordance with drawings, specifications, bills of quantity and employers requirements to the required standards.
LOCATION: Based on site, with occasional visits to Head Office, Kempston
JOB DUTIES
- Assist the Contracts Manager with the planning of the contract to produce a construction programme. Prepare at site level short term programmes for detailed planning of site work.
- Maintain progress in line with the agreed construction programme and mark up weekly the progress and display on site. Issue Progress Reports against the programme weekly to your Contracts Manager.
- Apply resources efficiently to ensure programme and standards are achieved cost effectively. Ensure sufficient labour, plant and materials are procured for the site, and to satisfy the programme.
- Verify by inspection and record that materials and workmanship are completed and comply with specification any work not acceptable to be recorded on NCR and SQI1 and issued. Act immediately should sub-standard workmanship/materials arise.
- Maintain adequate and effective records on site, such as, daily reports, dayworks, SQI1s, NCRs and Inspection Plan within the Health and Safety plan. Ensure these are distributed to involved parties.
- Control drawings and schedules issued to site including working drawings being used by the workforce.
- Process correspondence, site instructions and similar site generated paperwork to ensure such information is passed back to head office. Record in writing any contractual discussions or instructions that may be raised on site on CVI’s.
- Carry out scheduling and requisition such materials identified by the buyer to be dealt with from site. Update material take off sheet.
- Be active in the placing of orders for both materials and sub-contractors by liaising with Contracts Manager to comply with the programme.
- Similarly ensure that all service orders/statutory authorities are in place.
- Check on quantity of materials ordered are correct. Check delivery against order and deal with any divergence.
- Display Materials Delivery Schedule and update regularly.
- Attend regular Progress Meetings with Employers Representative/Client.
- Line management responsibility for Parrott site operatives.
- Procure sub-contractor Method Statements for Risk Assessment and similar and prepare same for Parrott Construction work in advance of the tasks involved. Check, obtain amendments where required, and enforce the execution of the work.
- Comply with Health and Safety arrangements at all times. Arrange regular checking and maintenance of scaffold, trenches, plant and equipment including completing statutory records. Keep stocks of and issue PPE to employees.
- Maintain a clean and safe site, presentable office with hospitality for visitors.
- Comment on elements of design to ensure most practical and economical product is achieved.
- Take photographic record of any elements of concern – notify Contracts Manager. Weekly photos to be sent to Contracts Manager.
- Follow principles of Considerate Constructors Scheme to maintain high standards in dealing with workforce and general public.
- Obtain Test Certification, Commission Certificates, etc. required for completion of the contract.
- Assist Contracts Manager in the checking of working drawings from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Act in the best interests of the company in dealing with members of the general public.
- Maintain compliance with ISO9001, 14001 & 45001 through the Business Management System (BMS).
- Work in accordance with the Construction Phase Plan and ensure site set up plans are fully up to date.
- Collect and hand to Contracts Manager documentation required for the Health & Safety File/O&M Manuals.
- Record meter readings on a monthly basis.
