Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and manage the electrical design process for residential developments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in residential building services, a strong technical background, and the ability to work closely with in-house teams, external consultants, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the electrical design for residential schemes from concept to completion.

Produce detailed designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux).

Ensure designs are compliant with current British Standards, Building Regulations, and other applicable legislation.

*

Coordinate electrical design with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural).

*

Work collaboratively with project managers, construction teams, and external consultants.

*

Review and approve subcontractor and supplier designs, drawings, and technical submissions.

*

Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during installation and commissioning stages.

*

Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance design efficiency and reduce costs.

*

Mentor and guide junior engineers within the design team.

Requirements:

*

Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent).

*

Minimum 7 years’ experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in the residential sector.

*

Strong knowledge of electrical systems including lighting, power, fire alarms, security, and data.

*

Proficiency in design and calculation software (e.g., Amtech, AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux).

*

Understanding of Part P, BS 7671 (18th Edition), and CIBSE guidelines.

*

Excellent communication and coordination skills.

*

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

*

Chartered or working towards Chartership (IET/CIBSE) is desirable
