A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced ALO (Authorised Liaison Officer) Planner to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project across the South West. This part-time role is ideal for someone looking to apply their rail and plant interface expertise in a flexible, well-structured environment.

Working between a live site in Trowbridge (1 shift per week) and a central office in Bristol (2 days per week), you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant planning and coordination of all on-track plant and crane operations.

Role Overview:

You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating all activities involving on-track plant (OTP) and crane movements within a live rail environment. This role requires excellent working knowledge of rail safety protocols and strong liaison skills to ensure all operations are conducted safely and in compliance with Network Rail and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain detailed ALO plans to manage on-site operations involving OTP and crane activity

Act as a key interface between project teams, plant operators, and Network Rail representatives

*

Carry out risk assessments, reviews, and validation of lift plans and plant movements

*

Attend the live site in Trowbridge one day per week to review operations and ensure adherence to plans

*

Provide ALO support, documentation updates, and planning coordination from the Bristol office (2 days per week)

*

Ensure compliance with Network Rail ALO guidance and relevant safety legislation

*

Maintain accurate records of movements, permits, approvals, and related documentation

*

Support the site team in planning work schedules, isolations, and plant delivery logistics

*

Liaise with the site engineering team to ensure safe clearances and protection measures are in place

Requirements:

Valid and up-to-date ALO certification essential

*

Previous experience in rail-based ALO or OTP planning roles

*

Strong understanding of Network Rail processes, ALO standards, and safe working practices

*

Ability to interpret site drawings, plans, and lift documentation

*

Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders

*

Flexible to attend the Trowbridge site once a week and work from the Bristol office on other days

IT literate, with the ability to produce clear planning documentation and reports
