The Opportunity
We’re working with a leading civil engineering contractor delivering large-scale infrastructure and road schemes in the Leiston area of Suffolk. They are currently looking to appoint a capable Section Engineer or Senior Engineer to support long-term works on a high-profile infrastructure project.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable project team on a significant civil engineering scheme, with responsibility for key areas of setting out, quality control, and on-site engineering coordination.
Key Responsibilities

Manage setting out activities using GPS and total station equipment
*
Supervise subcontractors and direct labour teams to ensure works are delivered to programme and spec
*
Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications
*
Prepare and maintain site records, ITPs, as-built drawings, and QA documentation
*
Ensure HSEQ compliance and promote safe working practices
*
Work closely with Section Managers and Site Agents to coordinate works and resolve technical issues
*
Support junior engineers and mentor where appropriate
Requirements
✅ Previous experience as a Section Engineer or Senior Engineer on civil infrastructure or highway schemes
✅ Strong setting out skills (GPS/Total Station/AutoCAD)
✅ Relevant qualification – HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering
✅ CSCS card (Gold or higher preferred)
✅ Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings
✅ Strong organisational and communication skills
✅ Based within 1 to 1.25 hours of Leiston, Suffolk (essential due to site access and travel expectations)

Experience on large road construction or infrastructure frameworks

Familiarity with QA systems and temporary works
