The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering contractor working on Environment Agency frameworks in and around the Cambridge area. This is a long-term role supporting a portfolio of environmental and flood risk management schemes, covering a wide variety of heavy civils works such as riverbank stabilisation, culverts, earthworks, drainage, embankments, and ecological enhancements.

This position offers an excellent chance to work on socially and environmentally impactful projects while developing your QS career within a stable and supportive commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial aspects of multiple live projects under the EA framework

Prepare and submit applications for payment, variations, and final accounts

*

Support monthly CVRs, forecasting, and cost reporting

*

Liaise with site teams, clients, and supply chain partners

*

Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and framework guidelines

*

Support procurement and subcontractor management

*

Identify risks and opportunities to maximise project value and margin

Requirements

✅ Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS in civil engineering
✅ Experience working on EA, environmental, flood defence, or heavy civils projects
✅ Familiarity with NEC contracts (Option C preferred)
✅ Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail
✅ Excellent communication and client-facing skills
✅ Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction

Desirable

Background on public sector or framework contracts (e.g. EA, local authority, DEFRA)

Experience with cost management tools and reporting systems

*

Full UK Driving Licence
