MEP BIM Technician
Role Overview
As a BIM Technician, you will contribute to the creation and coordination of digital building services models and drawings, working under the guidance of the BIM Team and Engineers. This role offers increasing autonomy as you gain experience, supporting the production of high-quality 2D and 3D information across various project stages. You’ll be instrumental in delivering technically sound and well-coordinated models that support sustainable and efficient building designs.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate engineered designs into accurate and coordinated outputs using Revit, AutoCAD, and associated BIM tools.
* Apply coordination principles with close attention to spatial and technical detail.
* Create and maintain parametric content, including Revit Families and Dynamic Blocks, to support project efficiency.
* Develop your understanding of MEP systems, building services design, and their integration within broader design systems and frameworks.
* Support Engineering delivery across project work stages, particularly RIBA Stages 2-4.
* Demonstrate initiative by identifying process improvements and offering support to peers where appropriate.
* Contribute to the ongoing development of internal digital standards and libraries under guidance from the BIM Manager.
* Participate in internal training sessions & CPDs helping to shape and share best practices in digital delivery, aiding to grow your experience and the experience of the wider practice.

* Deepen software capability in core BIM tools and understand their implementation in real project workflows.
* Build knowledge of building services systems and their digital representation.
* Understand the range of file formats and outputs used in coordination and construction.
* Engage in personal development activities, training, and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
* Begin contributing to the improvement of digital processes, tools, and resources used across the business.
Skills and Competencies
* Competent in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks or similar tools is a plus.
* Understanding of BIM principles and 3D coordination best practices.
* Familiarity with MEP systems in a design or construction environment.
* Ability to explain technical outputs and raise issues effectively.
* Strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, and commitment to learning.
* Ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* 1–3 years’ experience in a BIM or CAD Technician role, ideally within building services or construction.
* Vocational qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent industry experience in design or engineering.
* Understanding of BIM Level 2 workflows and ISO 19650 standards is beneficial.
