Assistant Health and Safety Manager
This role would suit an individual with a passion for workplace safety with a keen eye for identifying risks and hazards. They should possess excellent analytical skills, the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation, and a meticulous approach to compliance and record-keeping. A proactive attitude towards promoting wellbeing and health and safety practices is essential along with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards effectively and the capacity to devise and implement practical solutions in response to safety challenges
ACR are currently partnered with an award winning housebuilder who are currently on the lookout for an Assistant Health and Safety Manager to join their team.
Requirements for this position:
* A basic understanding of health and safety legislation, guidelines, and best practices relevant to the construction industry would be beneficial
* Position may also suit a Health and Safety Graduate or Site Manager with industry qualifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS or NVQ in Site Management.
Our client offer a personal development and training programme and will provide training to enable the successful candidate to achieve a NEBOSH qualification or NVQ in Occupational Safety & Health as a path to IOSH membership.
Main responsibilities will be to assist Head of Health & Safety to carry out their responsibilities in the implementation and monitoring of the company safety policies and procedures.
Roles and responsibilities:
* Ensure that suitable and adequate project specific Method Statements, Risk & COSHH Assessments are in place and regularly reviewed.
* Carry out regular site inspections to monitor that work on site is being carried out as planned, that relevant legislation is being observed, site rules and other instructions are being complied with and provide reports to the Head of Health & Safety, Construction Director and Site Managers detailing recommendations for improvement.
* Regularly audit site records & registers, including permits, temporary works, scaffold, plant maintenance, excavation and lifting plans etc.
* Ensure that sites are provided with the facilities, equipment, PPE, signs and documentation (forms, leaflets & posters) required to run the site in a safe and healthy condition.
* Ensure that relevant signs, posters and other health and safety information are displayed correctly.
* Assist site management teams to ensure that statutory testing / inspections of plant and equipment are carried out as required.
* Liaise with Site Managers to ensure an effective site traffic management plan is in place.
* Provide Site Managers with information to present regular Toolbox Talks to sub-contract operatives
* Assist with monitoring effectiveness of site-specific Environmental Management Plans
* Assist with implementation of Site Waste Management Plans for each development. Reviewing and monitoring costs and waste streams and implementing methods to reduce.
* Monitor water and energy use on developments and encourage methods to reduce consumption.
