Location: Central London
Project Value: Up to £10 million
Salary: £80,000 – £85,000 plus package – based on experience

Overview

An established and growing subcontractor specialising in raised access flooring systems is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead a major central London project valued at up to £10 million.

Working directly with a Tier 1 Main Contractor, you will oversee all commercial elements of the project, with day-to-day support from an Assistant Quantity Surveyor. This role offers the opportunity to manage high-spec, technically challenging packages while contributing to a strong commercial team within a specialist trade environment.

Key Responsibilities

Take full commercial ownership of the project from pre-contract through to final account

*

Lead on procurement, subcontractor selection and negotiation of terms

*

Produce and manage interim valuations, variations, cost reporting and forecasts

*

Work closely with the Assistant QS to delegate and oversee key tasks

*

Ensure robust cost control and early identification of risks or opportunities

*

Attend client and contractor meetings, providing commercial insight and updates

*

Manage change control procedures and contract administration

*

Support and mentor the Assistant QS in their development

*

Liaise with internal teams including site, planning, procurement, and accounts

*

Deliver accurate project reporting to senior management

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

*

Minimum 4+ years’ Quantity Surveying experience in construction or specialist subcontracting

*

Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and working within Tier 1 environments

*

Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation and analytical skills

*

Proven ability to manage commercial responsibilities independently

*

Competent in cost software and Microsoft Excel

*

Must have BlueBeam experience

*

Experience leading or mentoring junior QS staff

Desirable:

*

Experience in raised access flooring, fit-out, or drylining packages

*

Background working on commercial office or data centre projects

*

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent discipline
