Your new role:

Our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Merseyside to work on small works projects up to £1 million in value. This role is ideal for someone with experience in managing the commercial aspects of smaller construction projects, from inception through to completion. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing costs, contractual arrangements, and ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing and overseeing the financial and commercial aspects of multiple small works projects.

Preparing and submitting cost estimates, tender documents, and budgets.

Regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure projects stay on track financially.

Managing subcontractor accounts and variations, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.

Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment.

Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of project costs, including cost control and forecasting.

Providing commercial support to project managers and senior management.

Assisting in the preparation of final accounts and post-project analysis.

Reviewing and negotiating contract terms and conditions.

What you will need to succeed:

A background in Quantity Surveying, ideally within the construction industry.

Previous experience working on small works or projects up to £1 million in value.

Strong knowledge of contract law and the ability to manage cost and commercial aspects of projects.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.

A relevant degree or qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field (e.g., RICS accreditation is desirable but not essential).

Experience with cost management software (e.g., Excel, COINS, or similar) is advantageous.
