A well-established Main Contractor based in Essex is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a permanent, full-time role offering genuine career progression and exposure to a variety of exciting projects across multiple sectors.
Important Note:
This role requires someone who can remeasure subcontractor accounts and has a strong understanding of construction. We pay subcontractors for actual works completed — not by percentages. We are not looking for a clerk — we are looking for someone with technical confidence and the ability to measure subcontractor works accurately.

🧱 Role Overview
You’ll join a supportive and experienced commercial team, assisting a Senior Quantity Surveyor across all project stages — from pre-construction to final delivery.
Location:
Office and site-based. The company office is in Barking (15-minute walk from the station), and projects are within the M25. Ideally, candidates should live within a 45-minute drive of the office.

Permanent, full-time

📋 Responsibilities

Assist with financial control on multiple live or pre-construction projects
*
Attend monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) meetings
*
Measure and manage subcontractor accounts accurately
*
Perform internal and external pricing assessments
*
Develop understanding of contract terms, specifications, and pricing
*
Conduct regular site visits and remeasurements
🧠 Candidate Requirements
*
HNC or higher in Quantity Surveying or a similar discipline
*
Ability to remeasure subcontractor accounts
*
Good understanding of how buildings are constructed
*
Willingness to learn and grow with the team
*
Excellent numerical and communication skills
*
Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
