Freelance Mechanical Project Manager

Job Title: Freelance Mechanical Project Manager – Healthcare Project
Location: Sandwell, West Midlands
Rate: £350 per day
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Mechanical Project Manager to lead the mechanical package on a live healthcare project in the Sandwell area. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a complex and rewarding scheme in a critical sector, with a leading M&E contractor.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical works on a healthcare construction project

*

Ensure all works are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification

*

Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

*

Attend and chair site meetings, progress reviews, and technical workshops

*

Manage health & safety on site, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations

*

Review and approve RAMS, drawings, and technical submissions

*

Monitor procurement schedules and liaise with the commercial team

*

Provide regular project updates and progress reports

Requirements:

*

Proven track record as a Mechanical Project Manager, ideally within healthcare or similarly regulated environments

*

Strong knowledge of mechanical building services installation and commissioning

*

Ability to manage site-based teams and multiple subcontractors

*

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

*

Experience in working on live or high-risk sites with strict health & safety requirements

Qualifications:

*

NVQ Level 3 or above in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services

*

SMSTS or SSSTS certification

*

CSCS Manager/Engineer Card

*

First Aid at Work

*

Relevant H&S and compliance training desirable
